Meet Hillel's Engagement Interns

Life as a student is CRAZY.  School, Work, Greek Life, Community Service Projects, Hillel.

But adding in some time at Hillel to relax, connect and smile can make life a little better.

Check out just a couple of our Hillel "regulars"; students who volunteer, intern, or just call Hillel their ASU home.

Feel free to reach out to any of these folks to say hello, ask a question, or just to make a friend. They can give you the inside scoop on Jewish life at ASU, introduce you to a cute Jewish boy or girl, or be a friendly face at a program. Don't hesitate to say hello!

Dori Singer dlsinger@asu.edu

FYSH Engagement Intern Fall 2013

Hey y’all my name is Dori and I am SO excited to be one of the Freshman Engagement Interns!  I am a sophomore studying Nonprofit Leadership and Management who loves Disney, dinosaur fruit snacks, wearing bows in my hair, summer camp, my sorority (Alpha Gamma Delta) and everything pink!  Growing up I always found a home in the Jewish community whether it was at camp, in NFTY, going to religious school, and now here at Hillel.  It is my hope that all of you will find your home on campus here at Hillel as well! Get ready for what I know will be an amazing year working together!

Joel Gary jsgary@asu.edu

Student Engagement & Mentoring Intern Fall 2013

"Hi, I’m Joel Gary. I’m a senior here at ASU. I was born and raised in Huntington Beach, CA. I am pursuing a degree in Communications, hoping to gain a position in sports marketing once I graduate. Ever since I transferred to ASU, Hillel has been a great place for me to make new friends, experience memories, and discover Judaism in a new way. In high school I participated in a Jewish youth group and I was looking for a sense of Jewish community in college, and Hillel was just the place to do that. I enjoy going to Shabbat services and celebrating Shabbat with my friends. I know Hillel is a place to see friends and improve Jewish life on campus."

Shabbat & Holidays Engagement Intern Fall 2013

My name is Randall Burke, but I go by Randy. I am a Freshmen at Barrett, The Honors College at The Arizona State University, and I am majoring in Jewish Studies, with sights set on a second degree either in Macroeconomics of History. I was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona and I attended high school at Pinnacle High School in Phoenix. Currently, at ASU, I am playing for the Ultimate Frisbee club team, interning for the Hillel Jewish Student Center as the religious studies intern, and I am a member of Sigma Alpha Mu, Gamma Phi Chapter fraternity. I intend to take my Jewish Studies major and apply for the Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles to begin a six year program that will end with my ordination as a Rabbi and a masters of education earning me the status as a Reform Jewish Educator (RJE).

Lindsay Simon lrsimon@asu.edu

Student Engagement & Women's Programming Intern Fall 2013

Hi everybody! My name is Lindsay Simon and I’m a senior Arts Administration major. I was born in Roseville, CA but moved to Gilbert, AZ before I was five. Hillel at ASU has become of such crucial importance to me throughout my college experience. Hillel is literally where I spend all of my free time on campus whether it is hanging out with friends, doing my homework, or meeting with new students. Hillel has also given me incredible networking opportunities which led to my current employment. Stop by Hillel whenever you like and say hi! I’d love to chat (especially about Harry Potter, Disney movies, or the Indianapolis Colts!). :)

Michael Sarna msarna@asu.edu

Development Intern, Fall 2013

Hello, my name is Michael Sarna and I am the Undergraduate Student Representative to the Board of Directors at Hillel. I am a junior at ASU studying Nonprofit Leadership & Management at the downtown campus, and whenever I am not at a music festival, listening to records, or cheering on the Diamondbacks, I am at Hillel hanging out with my friends, chairing the Shabbat & Holiday Committee as a Development Intern and helping move Hillel forward with the board and staff. Hillel serves as not only as a way for me to connect with my religious and cultural Jewish identity, but also a way for me to meet like-minded students whose passions have led them to being involved with Jewish college life. Whether your passion is Torah Study, Israel, social programming, or just love a nice home-cooked Shabbat meal, Hillel is the place to find your home away from home at Arizona State University!

Jake Ladin

Freshmen Engagement Intern, Fall 2013

Hey! My name is Jake and I'm a Freshmen Engagement Intern at Hillel! I'm really excited to work here and meet a lot of new faces. When I'm not at Hillel, I'm either hanging out with my roommates, doing homework, playing sports, or making short films. Hillel has been a second home to me since I've been a student at ASU, and I really look forward to our events, seeing my friends, and eating delicious food. My hope is that new Jewish students at ASU will utilize Hillel as a resource for their studies, as well as a community for their college experiences.

Apply to be a Hillel Engagement Intern!
